Mars Perseverance rover in augmented reality

The Mars 2020 Perseverance rover launched July 30 on an Atlas V-541 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. It will land on Mars on Thursday.

Perseverance’s journey to Mars will culminate with a series of automated operations that will slow its approach from 12,100 mph to just 1.7 mph. The car-size rover will then  gently land on the planet's dusty surface.

Perseverance will begin transmitting signals and images almost immediately. After about three months of equipment checkouts, the 10-foot vehicle will very slowly roam the surface (at 0.1 mph, slower than the average pace of a turtle), conducting scientific studies that include gathering and caching rock and soil samples that may be retrieved on a later mission.
