Black Friday guide: Deals, hours and what's different about this year's holiday shopping

This Black Friday will be one like no other.

Most stores will be closed on Thanksgiving and will open closer to normal waking hours on Black Friday to discourage large crowds. Deals that in previous years would be in-store only will be available online.

An almost full slate of offers are already online, as retailers try to stretch the shopping holiday as long as possible, but more deals will be posted throughout the week. If you're an avid Black Friday shopper, the refresh button (F5) just became your new best friend.

Below are some of the highlights of the Black Friday deals currently available.

Black Friday Hours

Times may vary by store.

  • Christiana Mall: 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Concord Mall: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Dover Mall: 6 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Tanger Outlets Rehoboth Beach: 6 a.m.-9 p.m.

Hours for big box stores including Target, Walmart and Best Buy can be found here. Most open between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Black Friday.

Small Business Saturday

Small businesses, ranging from coffee shops to local boutiques, will offer deals as part of the annual shopping event, now in its 11th year. It's typically one of their busiest days of the year.

With capacity restricted because of COVID-19, several retailers are offering online deals and free shipping. Others are booking appointments for private shopping hours, where guests can browse the store solo for a certain amount of time.
